What is the Warranty of Motorola Batteries?

ProvenTough_grey

One of the top questions we get asked by our customers is “what is the warranty on batteries?” Every year, Nova Communications sells thousands of Motorola batteries, and most of the time they perform well above specs and warranties. Not surprising because Motorola customers have known for a long time the quality in Motorola batteries and radios. Even with that quality, there are times when a battery needs to be replaced on warranty. Here are the specifics on Motorola battery warranty.

Are my batteries still on warranty?

This is a great question and can easily be answered by looking at your battery. The battery date code will be able to tell you the date of your batteries production. Here are the steps to see what the production date of you battery is:  Motorola Date Code

  • Remove the battery from your radio
  • Look at the front of the radio (the part with the Motorola white label)
  • Find the area on the battery with the barcode
  • You will see 4 numbers – Those will be the year and week your battery was manufactured

For example in the picture here you will see this battery was manufactured on 13 (2013) – 25 (week 25 – June 23 – 29).

Motorola also understands that you might have not received you battery that week, so that warranty would not start till your Motorola dealer sells you the equipment. It is important to keep your purchase invoice if there are any questions on warranty. If you purchased your radios at Nova Communications, we are easily able to pull that information for you and let you know if your batteries still have warranty.

IMPRES Battery Warranty

IMPRES (Intelligent Motorola Portable Radio Energy System) is Motorola’s industry leading battery technology that automatically runs preventative maintenance and reconditioning on your batteries when charged with IMPRES chargers. Another great reason to use IMPRES batteries and chargers is that you will get an additional six Months warranty. Also, IMPRES batteries are built tough. If you ever drop, shake, or are ever in harsh conditions, IMPRES is the battery for you and your team. Customers that use IMPRES batteries are able to get 30 per cent longer life from their battery fleet, and that accounts for large savings to customers that decide that IMPRES is a great option for their operations. As a bonus, most Motorola MotoTRBO radios and APX radios come standard with IMPRES batteries.

  • 24 months against any defects in manufacturing or workmanship
  • Nickel-Cadmium batteries are warranted to maintain 80% rated capacity for 18 months
  • Nickel-Metal Hydride and Lithium-ion batteries are warranted to maintain 80% rated capacity for 12 months
  • IMPRES batteries charged exclusively in IMPRES chargers carry an additional six months of capacity warranty

Standard Motorola Batteries (non-IMPRES)

The excellent quality in construction in the IMPRES line of batteries is also found in Motorola Standard batteries. With the use of premium battery cells, copper circuitry and accelerated life testing (ALT), Motorola batteries outperform after-market batteries. Most Motorola commercial radios (CP Series & DTR650) and analog professional (PR & HT Series) radios do not come with IMPRES batteries as a standard feature, but may be able to be upgraded.
